When the wire is twisted, it allows your dog or cat to cross the buried wire without receiving a correction. The most common place to use twisted wire is between the transmitter and the edge of your boundary or an off-limits area like a pool or garden.

When twisting wire to allow your pet to cross over, the twisted section must be within the boundary, not along the perimeter. We recommend that you create separate sections of twisted wire and splice them into the main boundary; but remember that each wire must be spliced to only one other wire.
