Tired of replacing the motors in this litter box! We've spent $100 on replacement motors alone! This is ridiculous. We have one cat and use normal cat litter so I'd love to know what we're consistently replacing BOTH motors on this litter box!
We're sorry to hear that you've had issues with your motors going out, Ashley! While the motor may need to be replaced after an extended period, it is not common for them to need replaced constantly. We're happy to help you determine why yours may be experiencing this issue and provide a solution! If you don't already do so, it will help to take the litter box apart once a month or so in order to clean it. Simply clear out any dust or waste that may have collected around the motors and bowl track using a small brush and compressed air. This litter box works with any premium clumping litter, but since you have noticed issues it may help to try a different type of litter that produces less dust. Please know that we are available to help you, so you can reach us at at 1-800-732-2677 so we can get a little more information to hopefully provide a lasting solution, Ashley!
Tired of replacing and paying for motors on a litter box that cost $100+. If your car only lasted for a year and the motor died, would you buy another car, motor, or a BIKE? The customer service people were very nice in the beginning, but after calling back 4 times in the first year, they told us they could no longer provide us free parts. We paid $100 to get our hands filthy changing out motors every other month... the time it took to make the repairs, I could have just cleaned a normal litter box, which is what we are now back to because I refuse to pay another dime to fix an inferior product. Absolute Trash!!!
Thank you for taking the time to review the Simply Clean® Litter Box Motor. We are sorry to hear that you have had trouble with the litter box, and can completely understand your frustration. There are many factors to consider such as the age of the cats, the number of the cats, and the type of litter being used in the litter box. We will be reaching out to you privately for further assistance so that we can help!
Ok I've read a bunch of reviews here, and I must say this. I save SO much on kitty litter, and so much effort cleaning cat boxes, and it's SOOO nice not to have the smell, I would buy the motor every 3 months if I need to. However, I saw someone moaning about the plastic gears... I've had no trouble with the gears to which the motor attaches. The motor itself burned up. I actually took it apart, and had a look at it. It has some nylon gears in it, but those should last a while. The issue that I have found, is that the bowl itself can touch the wall, if the user is not careful, causing the motor to overwork itself. It's a very small motor and not designed for added wear and tear of having to push the bowl against the friction of the wall.
Further, regarding clumping litter. I have two small kittens and they do not cause problems with clumping litter, but I have a big old tom cat, and he likes to urinate right next to the conveyor, causing the litter to clump in such a way as to cause undue friction on the bowl, as he makes a rather large clump, and it sticks to the bottom of the bowl. With respect to that, the solution lies in that the owner must keep an eye on the box to make sure it is free and clear of all obstructions. Thanks for a great product, we do appreciate it, but a larger motor would help.
