I've had my dog safe for 3 months, everything was fine until the battery died, the place where I bought the system (pet shop) doesn't the battery replacement. I don't recommend for anyone to buy this product when the battery only last 3 months. its hard to find a replacement battery.

PETSAFE RESPONSE

I am sorry to read that our system has not met your needs and expectations. The RFA-67d-11 battery has an average life of 1-3 months when in use. This also depends on how often the unit is activated and if it is turned off when not in use. To extend the life of the battery, we recommend that the battery is removed when it is not in use. If the Receiver Collar is left on continuously, the maximum battery life will be only a few weeks. These can be purchased through our website or many local pet stores as the RFA-67d-11 is used in many of our bark collars and containment collars. To find local retailers, please refer to our where-to-buy section of our website:

Kept dogs(Lab and German Shepherd) in for about three weeks. Now they simply run through boundary and they a gone for hours. Would not recommend!!

PETSAFE RESPONSE:
Thank you for sharing your experience with the in-ground fence, Jason. We're sorry to hear that your dogs have begun to escape from their boundary. Please ensure that the fence is working correctly by testing each of the receiver collars at the boundary to make sure it is activating properly. If it is, you may want to turn up the boundary dial on your transmitter or turn up the correction levels on your receiver collars. In addition, please ensure that you go through the training process laid out in the manual, as without this training your dogs may not be able to grasp the way their boundaries work.

If you continue to have issues with the system, please give us a call at the number 1-866-738-4379 and we would be more than happy to assist you in any way that we can. Hours of operation are 8 AM-8 PM EST Monday-Friday and 9 AM-5 PM EST on Saturdays.

We have a Bearded Collie and a Catahoula. Our neighbors have a small Pit and an a Blue Healer. The 4 had a habit of running the fence and barking like crazy at each other. We bought a wireless fence kit and strung it all around our yard, through the fence and put collars on both our dogs. They did not go near the fence.

The neighbors kept running the fence. They bought the same wireless kit and put collars on both their dogs. It worked like a charm.

We no longer have to worry about our dogs chasing each other up and down the fence and barking like crazy. We love it!

The ONLY change I would like to see is a way to put a new battery in the screw top part instead of having to buy a whole new RFA-67 screw top/battery combo each time the battery runs out.

Thank you for a wonderful product.

We purchased our fence system in 2009. It has been on everyday since! We have never had a problem except after about 3 years the collar receiver went bad and we bought a new one. The only other problem is we had breaks in our wire where some rabbit or something chewed it and we had to splice it. This is November 2014 and I am ordering new wire because ours has been spliced so much. And by the way our Transmitter is still working fine!! The best and easiest way to keep our very, very problem dog at home!!

We had to have the collar replaced about 6 months after purchasing the fence. Thankfully the company replaced it.

Then just a month ago, our transmitter stopped working. We thought it was a dead battery in the collar, but have since discovered it is a dead transmitter. Now our dog is getting into our neighbors yard and the road! As I now see from some of the other reviews, this is pretty common for the thing to last 1 year....which ours is just about that old.

PETSAFE RESPONSE: We are sorry to hear of the trouble you've encountered with your Basic In-Ground Fence™ and we can understand how frustrating a damaged transmitter can be. Please know that we are happy to help offer troubleshooting and replacement assistance even if your transmitter is over the initial 1 year warranty! Often times, transmitters can be damaged due to a surge from your electrical outlets or lightning. To help prevent this issue, we do offer a surge protector that can protect surges traveling from your boundary wire and power adapter. We have an existing wooden privacy fence that my two lab mixes would regularly tear up and escape from. We tried various different things and this was a last resort. Now that it is installed, it is great and works like a charm. We still can't leave the gate open because they will buzz right through the shock, so if we didn't have the fence, I do not think this product would have worked for us. Install was confusing at first and a hassle. The existing fence made it much easier so I feel sorry for those who must bury all that wire. I simply attached the wire directly to our fence and only had to bury it where the gates open. I am a satisfied customer because the dogs no longer can get within 2 feet from the fence and they have stayed safely in the yard.

As with another review, we have used our fence for approximately 13 months and it has quit working and we are also plugged into a surge protector. May have to try a different brand because keeping our large bloodhound in a fence is a necessity. It was fabulous while it worked.

PETSAFE RESPONSE: Thank you for your time and feedback on your experience with the Basic In-Ground Fence. We are sorry to hear of the trouble you've experienced with your system, and we would be happy to offer troubleshooting assistance. If your collars are no longer responding to the boundary wire, we would recommend to start with conducting the Short Loop/ System Test. The steps for this test is available in your product manual, or by viewing the video at the link below. If your short loop test shows that your transmitter/ collar needs to be replaced, please know that we do offer replacement options even after the initial 1 year warranty has passed. For more information, please call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-732-2677.

We got our first dog in last August of 2011. Our 2nd box just died. It is plugged in to a surge protector along with a TV, DVD player, WII, directtv box - the only thing that ever dies is this box. While I love the freedom it affords my 2 dogs - having to replace it every year is fast coming to the point of just giving up and getting a regular fence. Love it when it works...but remember when the electricity goes out so does the fence! Otherwise i love it.

PETSAFE RESPONSE: Thank you for taking time to give us feedback on your experience with the PetSafe In- Ground Fence. We are sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with your transmitter, and can understand how frustrating it can be to have a failing system. Please know that this system is covered by a 1 year warranty, and we are happy to offer troubleshooting and replacement assistance beyond the initial warranty period.
If you are experiencing damage to your transmitter through power surges, we would recommend using an outlet only dedicated to your system in attempt to prevent interference. Also, we do carry a surge protector that will also help prevent surges or electrical spikes from coming in through your ground wire into the transmitter. This fence was so simple, took about 2 hours to dig the line, put it in, and hook it up. I have a 1 1/2 yr old lab, and a 8 month old pit bull and both caught on first hour or so. They both went through it once, and each haven't since. We have had family come, other animals pass by, people walking, ect and they wont go through. They love being free and are Two Complete different Dogs. 10/10 for sure!!

Thanks PetSafe!!
