Good pump. Will last a long time if you know how to clean, 7/11/13
Most people (like Judy) who bought the replacement pumps and complainted the life span of this product don't know how to make the old ones work. I'll show you how. 1) Detach the front wall (part that has the lever) from the pump to expose the motor blades. Use a Waterpik Flosser (or the like) to flush all the crud out. Immerse the pump in a pot of cold water and let it run for a minute. More crud will come out. Put the front wall back on. Now it is good as new.
disappointing life span of this pump, 6/28/13
Just bought a new pump a few months ago and it already quit! It's really too bad that this is the only place I can find one to buy. I maintained it, cleaned it and it still quit. The one that came with the fountain originally lasted an entire year. It seems that this is going to be a costly accessory for my pets.
