I had this 360 Plastic fountain for over a year. At first I liked it until after 6 months.
I had to give it a thorough cleaning every other day. And I mean SCRUBBING.
The fountain reeked of odor the next day each time I cleaned it plus water started to build slime (algae). Scrubbed it and finally got tired of cleaning I threw it away. I do have 2 dogs and one cat but still....Before 6 months I would clean it twice a week and no problem.
After, it exhausted me and now I have 3 water bowels and I'm happy. I was thinking of purchasing the Drinkwell stainless steel one. This might be a better buy. Any suggestions?

Please know that for any of our fountains, if you have multiple pets or dogs use the product, the slimy feeling may be caused by your pets' saliva. We do recommend to change the water and clean your fountain more frequently to prevent this. Also, we suggest to ensure the fountain parts are rinsed thoroughly after cleaning the fountain. Soap residue may also cause sliminess. To reduce mold and mildew, soak the fountain in a 90% water, 10% bleach solution for 15 minutes. Be sure to rinse every part thoroughly before re-assembling the fountain.

I have owned this fountain for about 6 months. I take it apart and clean it once a week. If this is done it works properly with water flow. The only question I have is how long will the pump work running all the time. Sometimes at night I do unplug the unit and re-fill with water the next day. This does work fine for me.The only problem I have is the little plastic screw on water regulator broke and I have to replace it. I have several cats that drink from the system and love it. Overall, I am happy with this product. Also, I am happy I found this website to order parts for the fountain.

We bought this through amazon and love the product. This has started leaking at the bottom as soon as we turn it on. Would you know how this can be fixed. Thank you

If there are no cracks, place a towel under the fountain in order to pinpoint where the leak is coming from. I've had this fountain for about five years. I've found that if I give it a thorough cleaning every two weeks it performs great. I have four cats and a dog. they all share this fountain.The only issue I've run into is having to replace the pump. I had to replace it a couple of years ago, because I let the water level get too low for the pump to be continually submerged. That was my fault. I'm now looking to have to replace the pump again, but I think it's because I did not know until recently that you could actually take the pump apart to clean the inside and impeller shaft. Moral of the story, watch the video above on how to clean your Drinkwell Fountain Pump. It will help tremendously.I highly recommend the plastic pre-filters. They help tremendously in keeping fur and food particles out of the pump. These filters can be reused a few times before having to replace them. Just clean them thoroughly with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly as well. If you want to economize on the charcoal filters, there is a replacement charcoal filter that you can get and fill it with your own bulk charcoal. Do a search for it.

I purchased the cleaning tools for the fountain so that I could clean it throughly. I tried for the first time and I couldn't remove the pump. It's stuck, it seems like it's in there permanantly.
I can't pull or wiggle it out.
Any advice would help on what to do would help. I have the original Drinkwell 360 white plastic fountain.

The pump should be held in place by the use of small suction cups which usually release when the pump is twisted slightly. If you are struggling to remove the pump while cleaning, we suggest to use warm water and a small amount of mild soap to help release it. My cats use this fountain but it is almost impossible to get the center cone part out of the fountain to clean it. I have owned the fountain for about two years and have only
been able to get the center portion out twice. Also, though it comes with a pre-filter, there is nothing in the instructions to tell you what this is or how to use it. I thought it was part of
the packing material and almost threw it out. If you review other sites with comments, you'll find that everyone else has the same problems with cleaning and wondering what this
weird foam thing is.

PETSAFE RESPONSE: We apologize that design of the Drinkwell® 360 Plastic Fountain has failed to meet your expectations. The Cone piece can be removed by twisting counter-
clockwise to unlock the tabs from the bowl. We understand how the filter can seem odd, and we appreciate your feedback! The filters are not required for the pump to properly operate, and please know there are instructions on how to care for your filter on page 5 of the manual.
